When mistakes happen and we do wrong

Introduction

When we are given new hearts and receive the Holy Spirit, we become new people; but we are not perfect. We make mistakes. Sometimes we get angry, gossip, or do something else wrong. Afterwards, because we love Allah, we realize that we did wrong and we feel ashamed. What do we do when these things happen? We are to ask forgiveness from those we hurt. We are also to pray and ask Allah for his forgiveness. Over time we mature and do these things less and less. This post looks at this process of confessing and maturing.

We are not perfect and we make mistakes. Sometimes serious mistakes. And we feel shame about what we did. What Allah wants us to know is that whenever we have done something wrong and we feel that shame, we have someone who is always on our side. Hazrat Isa al Masih is on our side and he always is present along with Allah to help us. Look at this verse.

What Allah wants is for us to admit to our mistakes and ask for Allah's forgiveness. The beauty of Allah is that he is Al-Ghafoor. When we admit to our mistakes and ask for his forgiveness, he not only forgives us, he also cleanses our conscience and our emotions. When he does this we find we feel no shame as we bow before him. We feel his acceptance and his love.

God knows we are weak. He gives us his Spirit so that we have the power to live in ways that please him. If we live our own lives, by our own power, there is no way we can live in ways that please God. However, if we want to please God, we need to always be filled with the Spirit and live by the Sharia of the Spirit. This is what these verses teach.

Conclusion

In this life we will never be perfect. When we being this new life in the Spirit we are like children. We make many mistakes. These mistakes should not discourage us. We should honestly admit them to God and to one another. The beauty is that over time we mature. We learn how to live by the power of the Spirit and make less mistakes and become more and more like Hazrat Isa al Masih, living the kind of lives that God wants us to live.
