Introduction

Often we are asked: Do you do nmunz? How do you do nmunz? The word nmunz means worship. Isawian across the world worship Allah in different ways. Hazrat Isa al Mashi (PBUH) told us that it didn't matter where we did nmunz or what way we did it. As you will see below, what matters to Allah is that we worship in Spirit and truth. We will explain what that means.

Biblical References

John 4:21-24

In the verses below we see Hazrat Isa al Masih (PBUH) telling the woman that the true worshippers will worship in spirit and in truth. What we learn from this is first and foremost true worship is not about method or location, true worship is about who - we are to worship Allah, no one else. Second, our worship has to be in Spirit and truth.

Psalm 15:1-5

Hazrat Isa al Masih said we are to worship in Spirit and in truth. In the Tawrat, Zabur, and the Injil truth means that we are honest with God about our motives, our thoughts, and our desires. We don't try to hide from God or deceive ourselves about what we really think and feel. This psalm of the Prophet Daud (PBUH) gives us a picture of the kind of person God accepts.

Luke 18:9-14

There comes a time in our lives when we realize that we have not lived up to the above standards. Who can say they have never done wrong? Some people are proud of themselves for how they have lived their lives like the below Pharisee. But look how love for others is absent from his heart. Other people are like the tax collector. God is looking for people like the tax collector, those who are humble, who recognize that they are not perfect, who have fallen short of God's standards, yet want to love God and be different.

Ezekiel 36:25-27

These verses describe what Allah wants to do for all who have fallen short of his standards yet want to love Allah and be different. He wants to cleanse our mind, heart, and conscience from all we have done wrong, and he wants to give us a new heart - that is, a new attitude - an attitude of love for him and his law. And he wants to put his Spirit within us, so we have the desire and the power to obey his commands. And when we have the Spirit of Allah, we can worship Allah by the help of the Spirit.

Conclusion

Allah wants us to worship him sincerely and truthfully. We can only do that in the power of his Spirit. When we have been cleansed and have received a new heart and the Spirit, then we can offer to God the worship that he desires. It is Hazrat Isa al Masih that makes this cleansing and change of heart possible. And Hazrat al Masih is the one who gives God's Spirit. Due to this, those who obey Allah and follow Hazrat Isa al Masih worship in many different places with many different methods. But they always worship in Spirit and in truth.
